What is an LLM wiki?

Learn how WikiDrive uses an LLM wiki to organize reusable prompts, working rules and notes, and how to check whether your AI actually used them.

Updated

Here, an LLM wiki means a maintained collection of prompts, working rules and reference notes that you can bring into AI tasks. This describes how WikiDrive uses the term; it is not a universal technical standard.

The aim is simple: keep the instructions that proved useful, then bring the right ones to the next task. Updating a note does not retrain the underlying AI model.

1. Separate a reusable rule from today's facts

A reusable rule describes how you want work done. A task note records information that may change. Keeping them separate makes it easier to update a project without accidentally changing your writing preferences.

Vague request

Remember everything from this week's status report.

More specific request

Keep this reusable rule: begin status reports with the decision the reader needs to make. Keep this week's dates, blockers and progress in a separate project note. Recheck those facts before the next report.

Illustrative request: separate a lasting rule from changing project facts. Check what was actually saved in the tool you use.

2. Start with one kind of work

A short, maintained set is easier to review than an archive of every chat. For project reviews, a premortem prompt adds a specific method: identify possible failure causes before committing to the plan.

  • Choose a repeating task, such as work emails or project reviews.
  • Write three useful rules and one small example of the format you want.
  • Keep source notes separate, with enough context to recognize when they are out of date.
  • Try the rules on a new task. Remove instructions that conflict or no longer help.

3. Copy this reusable working note

Prompt text
Task type: [the recurring kind of work].
Use this when: [a clear trigger].
My working rules:
1. [rule]
2. [rule]
3. [rule]
Expected output: [a short structure or example].
Current task facts: [provide separately for each task].
Before applying this note, check that it fits my current request. If instructions conflict, point out the conflict instead of combining them silently.
After the task, suggest only corrections that would also help future tasks.

4. Check retrieval, not just storage

WikiDrive lets you explore public prompts and save a version for your work. Using saved guidance inside an AI depends on its WikiDrive connection and tool calls. Saving does not guarantee automatic retrieval in every chat.

Ask the connected AI to load your WikiDrive prompt for the task. Check the tool activity and whether the work follows your rules. Without a connection, copy the guidance into your request.

What belongs in the wiki?

Keep reusable methods and reference material you are entitled to use. Keep changing facts current and remove obsolete instructions. Avoid credentials or unnecessary personal information. Evaluate the work itself: having a larger prompt collection does not prove that the answers are better.
